How Mentorship Helps Moms Thrive: Spotlight on She Rise Starter Pack

Mentorships don’t just help mothers thrive, but also allow their families to receive much-needed aid and support. At South Project, we provide compassionate membership with personalized support, encouragement, and educational resources for an easier way to navigate motherhood.

The SheRise Starter Pack is a free-to-join, milestone-based gift that celebrates commitment and growth as a mentee at South Project for young mothers. When you become a mentee, you support South Project’s mission in providing valuable resources to those who need them most. 

To qualify and begin to receive the SheRise Starter Pack, you must:

1. 1. Attend at least two workshop events throughout the year. South Project provides an array of different workshops that provide young mothers with the opportunity to connect and network, to build communities, and be provided with educational, personalised support, along with different forms of aid.
   2. Enroll in the 12-month Mentee Program. After signing up for this program, South Project connects you with a mentor who will guide you through your motherhood journey. 

As the SheRise Starter Pack is provided to you in segments, this reflects the steps being experienced during your journey while connected to South Project. We believe in the impact of celebrating milestones through consistency and practice. The Starter Pack will give you just the right support you need at the right time.

What’s Inside And When You’ll Receive It:

After attending your first selected workshop, you will receive the Welcome Bundle. This bundle will set you up for a warm and inviting atmosphere that reflects the support that South Project is gracious to cultivate.

Contents Inside the Welcome Bundle:

• • Mini Journal & Pen: A great set to begin journaling, planning, and writing down your thoughts. 

• • Personalized Encouragement Card: Young mothers deserve great support! This personalized card allows you to feel your very best with a community behind you, full of other mothers and dedicated mentors. 

• • Herbal Tea & Bath Soak: Herbal tea has various benefits, such as easing digestion, minimising inflammation, boosting the immune system, aiding weight loss, and relieving stress (TeaPigs). A bath soak, on the other hand, provides you with relaxation and provides therapeutic effects to the body and mind.

This welcoming kit is not only essential to cultivate a new journey for young mothers, but it also provides you with a basic foundation to begin to explore the new you.

After you attend the second workshop, you will be provided with a Self-Care Boost Bundle. This bundle will further encourage you to create a space for you to have self-care, as well as begin to provide baby essentials for your child. 

Contents Inside the Self-Care Boost Bundle:

1. • Choice of face mask or lip balm. These pampering tools help you feel your very best. A confident mama is a strong and supported one.

1. • Baby Essentials Starter Pack: As basic essentials such as diapers, baby food, and clothing are rising in cost, it’s a necessity for mothers to be able to provide their children with the basic needs. This starter pack also includes baby wipes and trial-size baby lotion and body wash. 

These essentials allow parents to reduce stress, protect and nurture the health of their little ones, and be connected with an organization like South Project that is there for young mothers navigating parenthood. 

Once you reach your six-month milestone through the Mentorship Program, South Project begins to provide you with tools to grow not only as a person but as a member of an enriching community of strong and confident women.

The Growth Tools Include:

• The “Mom Boss” Digital Toolkit:
  1. 1. You will receive a Budget & Meal Planning printable. It can be difficult to plan weekly (and even daily) budgets as a young parent, but being allowed to use a clear format will motivate you to take into account your budget, while zeroing out things that can wait. There’s a big difference between what one wants and needs, and such methods of budget planning help you feel more in control of your finances, no matter how much or how little you make. Meal planning for every meal of the day can also be something that feels burdensome as a young adult, but when you bring children into the planning, it can feel overwhelming. Having a meal planning printable will allow you to think about the different varieties of breakfast, lunch, and dinner that will happen for every day of the week. Whether that means intentional grocery shopping once a week, or grabbing a quick bite of fast food for you and your family after busy days, you get to decide what you eat that provides nourishment and comfort. 
     2. Confidence Boosting Affirmation Cards: Affirmations are positive words that give you confidence and motivation to move forward with your days while boosting self-esteem, setting future intentions, and cultivating a positive environment to navigate all your tasks and planning through. Everyone needs words of encouragement, and such a tool is necessary to bring out the best version of yourself as a young mother.
     3. Mini guide: “How to Find Your Path & Purpose as a Young Mom.” This mini but mighty guide helps you reflect and redirect your mindset into one that is full of positivity and realism, in the sense that you get to select your own intentions as a mother. Being a mother is more than just caring for your children; it is also an identity that allows you to discover a new version of yourself. Although becoming a mother can take up most of your time, it is not the only way you can carry purpose. Such a guide helps you think about the future, however easy or hard that may be. You deserve to put yourself first, as caring for yourself is not selfish.
     4. Entry into Monthly Raffles begins. These raffle entries allow you to receive much-needed items and goodies. 
     5. Priority access to events, giveaways & mocktail meetups. Become a mentee with priority access to South Project events throughout the year. Include yourself in the opportunity to join various giveaways. Network with other young moms and mentors through mocktail meetups, and be empowered through a variety of important resources, such as educational workshops, community engagement events, and advocacy and outreach.

Once you complete the Mentorship Program, which is around the 12-month mark, you will receive a Celebration Award Bundle, which is a reflection of your dedication to the mentorship that South Project provides. 

Included in the Celebration Award Bundle: 

• • You receive a $20 gift card. Options can be Amazon, Ross, Walmart, or a local grocery store. Use this gift card to buy yourself something, or buy your family something that is much needed. 

• • A bonus entry into the Monthly Raffle. The extra Monthly Raffle submission can give you more chances to earn goodies every month!

• • Certificate of Completion + Feature in our monthly newsletter. A shoutout through the monthly newsletter can encourage confidence to grow, as well as help you set a platform for yourself. It’s so important to have an encouraging community around you, and this is a great opportunity to showcase that.
